Kohar Hovhannisian, Rupen Sasuntsi, and Aghasi Ispiryan were the featured artists in an evening of national and folk songs held in Beirut on October 5, 2018. The event, organized by the Hamazkayin Regional Executive Board, was held at the Hovhanness Boghosian Theater Hall of the Armenian Catholic Church in Lebanon.
The event was a part of the festivities celebrating Hamazkayin’s 90th anniversary, the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Republic, as well as the 27th anniversary of the restoration of Armenia’s independence.
Vartan Aznavoorian, speaking on the behalf of the Executive Board, welcomed the guests. He then invited everyone to stand for a moment of silence in memory of Charles Aznavour.
Aznavoorian noted that the concert was the first project undertaken by the newly elected board. He said folk songs and national music has a special place in everyone’s heart and best represent Armenian culture and reinforce ties with the homeland.
